Bridging Communities, Restoring Lives
Embracing Refugees with Restore
Restore envisions a society where all refugees and asylum seekers are embraced and integrated, having fled war or persecution in their homelands to seek safety and rebuild their lives.
Through one-to-one befriending and group social activities, Restore fosters relationships and facilitates integration. Their initiatives combat isolation, loneliness, and cultural adjustment challenges by providing conversational English support and promoting mental well-being. With over 100 ongoing befriending connections and a goal to establish 50 new matches annually, Restore organises regular men's and women's group gatherings. The impact is profound; one asylum seeker shared, "Restore paired me with a befriender who changed my life—easing my burdens and restoring my confidence."
Volunteers also benefit, by finding enrichment in cultural diversity and contributing to Birmingham's welcoming environment. As a project of Birmingham Churches Together, Restore advocates for action and strives for societal change.
