The Vavengers: Ending violence against women and girls
Illegal in many countries, but widespread across many communities in the UK and around the world, the cultural practice of female genital mutilation has life-long physical and psychological consequences for those affected.
Newly registered charity on the Wonderful fundraising platform, The Vavengers, brings together a network of communities to transform singular experiences into shared action.
"When women rise, we all rise" - The Vavengers
The work of The Vavengers takes multiple forms...
Community outreach hubs
Directly supporting women in the community at the physical, psychological and legal level. These workshops offer a safe space, with regular pop-ups in London hosting talks, wellbeing sessions and the distribution of essential items for women and girls who need them.
Educational workshops
Held for businesses, schools and even health professionals, these workshops educate at all levels so that people understand the issues and how to address them.
Campaigning
The Vavengers' campaigns help raise awareness about the experiences of real women like Leyla, featured below. Hers is just one of many unique stories. This campaign work sits alongside the educational activities for healthcare professionals and other groups to generate real positive impacts across the UK.
Wonderful fundraisers
Wonderful fundraiser Megan is currently supporting The Vavengers by taking part in the upcoming Hackney Half marathon. She's already covered an incredible amount of miles as part of her training, including a 140 mile bike ride!
